Victorian Engraved Garnet Padlock

An exceptional Victorian padlock set with three garnets. Circa 1870.

The large padlock is intricately hand engraved across nearly all surfaces and features a glazed locket compartment. Several hours of work must have gone into carving the wonderful foliate engravings across the padlock surface. 

The padlock clasp has beautiful faceting on the gold and securely snaps shut. 

The padlock measures 3.9cm in length and 2.7mm at its widest point.

The padlock tests between 9-15ct gold and is around a 12-14ct purity. 

Great clean condition. The engraving is nice and crisp. Very light age related scratches to garnets and glazed compartment. Some light wear to the glazed panel bezel from being open and closed. The locket panel is securely in place within the padlock. Please see pictures.
