Victorian Crowned Portrait Brooch
A beautiful bejewelled brooch. The front contains a locket compartment with a hand painted portrait miniature of a lady wearing a white lace shawl.
The reverse is engraved MT HRH. This alongside the crown to the front suggests this is a royalist piece and possibly depicts a European royal such as Maria Theresa of Austria.
Circa 1850, Continental Europe.
Set with rubies, rose cut diamonds and pearls.
Tests as 15-18ct gold.
3cm length and 2cm width.
Nice clean condition with all stones intact. The reverse of the piece is curved and the brooch fitting is a later addition suggesting that this was converted from another item of jewellery into a brooch. Small scratches to the locket glass. Closed back stones - we would suggest care taken when this piece is worn.
Free international shipping and will be sent gift boxed.
