reserved Antique Amber Glass Intaglio Ring
A beautiful antique intaglio ring. The large Victorian Intaglio (circa 1840) depicts a Grecian/Roman female with grapes in her hair. The intaglio may depict Bacchante or Amphictyonis - Goddesses related to wine.
The intaglio is set in a later gold mount (early twentieth century). The high quality and intricate carving creates a three dimensional effect when the ring is viewed from the reverse or when it is impressed in wax.
The intaglio is carved into amber coloured glass and has initials to the lower left side.

Condition: Nice clean condition. Some scratches/wear to the edges of the glass and gold mount. Intaglio is secure. The reverse of the intaglio has two areas of rubbing (not visible from the front). There are small bubbles inside the intaglio which were formed during the creation of the glass.
