Reserved Georgian Rose Cut Diamond Brooch

A Georgian floral wreath brooch. This large scale piece is crafted from silver and generously set with sparkling rose cut and old cut diamonds. Rose cut diamonds sparkle best in low light (candle lit dinners) and this piece is a fireball when it catches the light. The giardinetti like design is finely detailed and well proportioned. The diamonds are set in open back collet settings. It’s nice to see an example like this intact as similar designs are often cut up and converted into giardinetti rings.

Age: Circa 1820

Weight: 19 grams

Materials: Tested as silver

Size: 5.6cm diameter

Gemstones: Natural rose cut and old cut diamonds. Each of the three largest rose cut diamonds has the same surface area as a 0.60ct diamond but due to their shallow cut they weigh less than they look. We estimate the total weight of the diamonds to be approximately 2.5-3cts with the look of a 7 carat piece. The diamonds vary in clarity from VS to I. The brooch sparkles incredibly well in low light conditions.

Condition: Very nice clean condition. The diamonds are secure and in good condition. The patina has been polished off but the silver will darken over time. Light surface marks. The pin is a later replacement which has been soldered onto the back of the brooch.

Free international shipping and will be sent gift boxed.
