An extremely fine example of a mourning band. The enamel on this ring is almost perfect considering its age - it looks like this ring was never worn. It's hard to pick up the crispness in images.

UK ring size O

USA ring size 7

The band reads: Robt Corse. OB 21 May. 1797. AE.56.

Robert Corse was a business man from Paisley. He owned Greenlaw House and he was a representative of the old family of Cross or Corse of Crossmill in Renfrewshire. He was in partnership with John Christie, under the firm of Christie, Corse & Co. He was one of the nine original partners of the Paisley Banking Company which was established on 1st October 1783. Condition: Near perfect. Some minor discolouration of the white enamel and minor wear in places - however the pictures look far worse than the real life ring. Gold content untested but likely to be 18ct gold. No hallmarks.
