Etruscan Revival Micromosaic Scarf Pin


A striking late Victorian scarf clip. 

In the Etruscan revival style this piece dates to the late 1800s. 

The front of the brooch has a micromosaic scene of two birds surrounded by flowers. The reverse has raised lettering spelling out “ROMA”. This was likely a souvenir purchased from Italy on a grand tour visit.

No hallmarks - This piece has been professionally tested as 15ct gold with a 22ct gilding.

3.1cm width, 1.3cm tall. 

Lovely clean condition. Minor losses to micro mosaic beneath the birds and one edge. Some light scuffing to the gold on the edges of the piece. Fully functional.
