18ct Gold Victorian Black Enamel and Diamond Mourning Ring

A beautiful Victorian Black enamel diamond ring set with an old cut diamond.

The inside of the ring is fully hallmarked for 18ct gold and bears an inscription for 1849.

The old cut diamond is steely gray and is set in a silver collet setting on a shield shaped panel.

Condition: Good - some wear to the enamel on the band. Evidence of resizing. Lead solder visible to reverse of shield. The shield may be a later addition as the gold is a different colour. The inscription is worn but part is visible stating 'died...Feb 1849'
