15ct Gold Iberian Diamond Ring c.1850

A very unusual 19th century ring.

Crafted from 15ct gold this ring consists of a heavy engraved shank with an Iberian diamond component set into the top. It’s likely the top came from a larger piece which was salvaged by turning it into a ring.

The top component dates to circa 1780 and is set with table cut and rose cut diamonds. The shank appears mid victorian in style and circa 1850.

No hallmarks. Professionally tested as 15ct gold. The top tests as 22ct.

Diamond component is 14x15.6mm.

13.4 grams

US size 6 1/4

UK size M 1/2

Nice condition. There are two areas where sizing marks are visible on the shank. Age related marks to the ring. The centre diamond is chipped but intact. Three diamonds in the halo have small chips/abrasion but remain intact. Two of the prongs holding the component in place are worn, the component is secure but there is some movement if it is physically moved around. We recommend this ring is worn with care as the diamonds are in close backed settings.
