A beautiful Victorian mourning locket with ornate chasing and engraving.
The locket is finely engraved to the front with "Mary Tyler Ob 24th May 1843 ae 68".
The locket is 2cm in diameter and 3cm including the bail.
The pendant is set with three turquoise, two pearls and a red gemstone. The whole piece is deeply engraved with beautiful foliate patterns.
The reverse of the locket is glazed and contains stylised hair.
The outer edge of the pendant and bail is made from pinchbeck. The central disc is likely 9ct gold but it isnt possible to test the piece without damaging it.
Nice clean condition. The whole piece is very crisp and clean. A very small localised area of indentation around one edge of the central mount - very hard to notice. No scratches or marks.
