Georgian Mourning Crossed Hearts Ring

A beautiful and rare Georgian Mourning Ring.

This ring can be purchased by anyone but I can not send it outside of the EU due to it potentially being painted in Ivory. Please note this before purchasing. Any buyers who purchase this outside of the EU are responsible for shipping.

The inscription to the reverse reading:

MMK

Died 1st June 1790

Aged 59

The plaque depicts fine wreaths made from crushed hair and two hearts with arrows through them in the centre. This ring would have commemorated a partner due to the heart symbolism.

UK Ring size R 1/2

USA ring size 8 7/8

This ring looks like it was originally formed as a ring rather than a conversion from a brooch. The back is curved to hug the finger and it has that smooth age worn feel on the gold.

A wonderful piece of history.

Condition:

Nice overall clean condition. The crystal/glass top has light pitting and age related scratches. The plaque inside the ring has either shrunk or would have originally had a border which has been lost. Wear to the inscription due to rubbing and polishing. Gold is untested but is likely 15ct. The band shows evidence of resizing.

Free courier delivery worldwide. Will be sent gift wrapped.

Please remember that lay away is available.
