A truly remarkable Georgian Pendant in a cross shape.
Circa 1760-1780 this beautiful cross is inlaid with flat cut garnets and paste stones. All of the stones are foil backed in closed back settings and have the most incredible glow and rich colour.
Set in silver. Possible makers mark or hallmark to bail - please see pictures.
For me the sign of a good gemstone is one which is large enough to leave fingerprints on - this is a nice sized pendant with large stones.
4.5cm length excluding the bail. 3cm wide.
The garnets are approx 5x5mm each.
Condition: Nice clean condition. All stones secure and believed to be original to the piece. The garnets are nicely matched. Some minor wear to mounts. No chips to stones - a couple of light surface nicks to garnets and some colour variation (age related) to the white paste stones. Please see pictures. Age related light scratches across the silver.
