A stunning heart and bow brooch from Carrington & Co. Jewellers. The bow is hallmarked for 9ct Gold with makers mark. The date mark is slightly worn so I can't see the exact year but this piece is Victorian in age.
From Hancocks website: Court jewellers and Silversmiths founded in 1780 Carrington & Company was first established in London’s Regent Street. With Royal Warrants from Queen Victoria, Prince Albert, Edward VII, George V, as well as Nicholas I and II and Queen Alexandra of Russia, Carrington & Company has established true regal connections. Famous for lockets and cufflinks, Carrington’s collections and accessories were retailed by many of the finest jewelers of the day including Tiffany & Co and Cartier.
The brooch is in great condition. With sharp engraved details on the heart pendant and the front of the bow. The enamel is slightly missing on one of the ivy leaves (please see pictures). Hallmarks to bow only (I can't see any on heart but heart has been tested just to confirm it is 9ct gold).
The heart has a glazed compartment at the back.
5cm from top to bottom.
