Mughal Gold and Diamond Set Archers Ring

A magnificent Mughal Archers ring in high carat gold and set with polki diamonds. Archers rings were worn on the thumb to protect the inside of the thumb when the bowstring was drawn. They served as functional objects but were also decorative and worn as status symbols. This example would be the latter as it is crafted out of gold and ornately set with diamonds. This design is Indian rather than Oriental or Turkish and likely an early twentieth century example. This is a large ring but it can be worn as a pendant.

Date: Circa 1900

Weight 31.6 grams

Size UK size Z+6 (24.27mm internal diameter). As a pendant the piece is 5cm in length and 3.4cm wide.

Materials: Tests as 19-22ct gold. I believe this example is solid gold with a shellac/resin core within the piece for structural integrity.

Gemstones: Natural flat cut diamonds.

Condition: Good clean condition. Some discolouration in places and age related wear. Old sizing mark to the reverse of the ring.

Free international shipping and will be sent gift boxed.
