Georgian Octagram Diamond Set Star Pendant
A stunning late Georgian pendant in the form of an eight pointed star also known as an octogram.
Approximately five and a half carats of lively old cut diamonds are set into the star resulting in a dazzling piece of jewellery.
The pendant is constructed from 9ct gold with the diamonds set into a silver panel at the front.
The star is 3x3cm excluding the bail.
The central stone is approximately 0.55cts and is surrounded by a blue enamel circle.
The total carat weight has been estimated at 5.5cts by measuring the stones in the mounts. Some of the stones are open backed and some are close backed. The central stone is close backed with foiling.
The stones are VS/SI clarities and bright - some of the diamonds slightly vary in colour but overall the stones are white facing and well matched.
Nice clean condition. Likely converted from a brooch with a later bail. The circular ring at the back is also probably a later addition to reinforce the piece after it was converted. One point has a small area of repair - shown in the photos under magnification. The diamonds are free of chips, two stones have small surface scratches on the table. Small area of scratching to the enamel around the central diamond.
Chain and box are for photographic purposes and not included.
Free international shipping and will be sent gift boxed.
